you do and that's your right as an American

After all, it's all about you, the pleasure
you take from violence disguised as righteousness

Insensitivity training
schooled you to the cruelest ways
to make authoritative claims about places, pains
you've never known but don't need to know to inflict
so you at last feel

Feel your sadism
And they do, too.

And this is what passes for acknowledging disaster
across empire.
