The News

You have to watch the news
The news makes you anxious
Because the people mouthing it
make panic mouths, bleating
out provoking anxious sounds

Even worse are the smug ones,
or the het up ones, like the dudes
of my last entry, fleeing directness,
sex if it's a woman's idea, substance--
where is the beef, with these rich
anchors smiling down and projecting
re: entitlement.
