High tide, low tide

Everyone rides different waves in this cycle.

Over black bean nachos,
a friend hits the rails
we'll never be happy here
and I taste salt

from my margarita, enjoying cuervo and the cool calm crest
I'm currently riding. Other days,
I'm deriding

Napoleonic-code landlords surfing us
N(ot) O(ur) P(roblem) D(udes)
revolving door justice/judges' trips to Jamaica
public schools open for permanent vacation.

Missing New York - tri-city -
but not enough to exit Nola
for more than a few weeks at a time,
just long enough
to pine
come home
re-grow
vines.
